On the actual problems concerning the interior ballistics of solid propellant rocket

Аннотация

An original formulation of the problem on the calculation of interior ballistic parameters of SRM with metallized propellant charges is proposed. A heterogeneous turbulent flow is considered. Three systems of equations are employed: for gases, burning particles, and inert condensed particles taking into account their size distribution. The processes of metal particle evaporation, vapour oxidation, oxide nuclcation, and further evolution of inert particles are taken into account. Equations for inert particles include additional source terms taking into account mass, and energy transfer in the phase space of the mass. The up-to-date theoretical problems of interior ballistics of SRM are reviewed. The term interior ballistics is taken in reference to the science based on chemical hydrodynamics, combustion theory (including the combustion of solid propellants), and the mechanics of solid deformable body.
